The Summer of Very Few Video Games
We've been in the pool a lot, we've been on vacation, we've got activities, and video games have just not been part of our rotation this summer.
Some of my strongest summer memories involve waiting for my parents to be fully asleep, then before spending hours playing a game like Final Fantasy VII with the TV muted. It was easy for my mom to know what happened, because, uh, I wouldn’t take up until lunch. So long as nothing important was going on, she would let it slide.
The end of the summer means another rotation around the sun for my oldest.
She’s now eight years old, a fact I’m unwilling to fully sit with and understand because doing so would force me to confront the passage of time, but it’s been interesting to watch her relationship with video games over the summer—or, well, lack thereof?
